Yepp. You read that right

I got a razor and shaved my couch.

A little back story so you don't think I'm crazy:

We have a cat. She is purrfect (insert laughter at my pun). But like any other pet she has her flaws. Her biggest downfall is the desire to destroy our cloth couch.

She has a cat tree and a scratching post, but still her favorite place to lovingly scratch is the corners of the couch.

We've been told to declaw her and that will fix the problem, but I just can't bring myself to do such a drastic thing over a couch. We got a cat knowing the risks. That being said, we have learned to deal with the frayed corners of our couch.

If you follow me on instagram @daphnecfranklin (yepp, I'm going to shamelessly plug my insta handle here) then you know that we deep cleaned out house this past weekend.

While deep cleaning, I decided to attempt to make the couch look slightly less like a scratching post, and more like a couch again.

As I observed the frayed edges I couldn't help but think that they remind me of leg hairs.

So I went and got my razor.

My next thought was obviously razor burn (nobody likes that) so I got a damp towel to work with.

I began with a trim with scissors and then dampened the area and started to shave her.

IT. WAS. GLORIOUS.

I'd never felt so satisfied using a razor.

The frayed edges began to fade away. With quick motions in various directions and firm pressure my couch began to look and feel smooth again.

Here was the results

So there it is.

A life hack.

Maybe someone has already done this.

Maybe I'm not the imaginative inventor that I feel like I am, but I don't care.

I shaved my couch and it was amazing.
